Boxes at the March meeting

We had a wonderful time making boxes at our meeting and a huge thank you to Sam and Maureen for helping to put us through our paces and to Judy for loaning many of the teaching aids.

 

 

Many thanks to all the members who also bought in examples of boxes they had made. What an inspiring day.

 

 

 

Members worked very hard, especially as lots of measurements were involved for accuracy.

 

We are all looking forward to seeing the finished boxes at the meeting next month. 

February meeting . little fabric bowls

We had a last minute change of plan to the diary, and so at the February meeting Maggie showed us how to make small fabric bowls, which can be used in a variety of ways.
 
They were quick and easy to make, and can be made by hand or machine.

One of our members, Maggie Harris, has been selected to exhibit her art work  at Artsite in Swindon in celebration of International Womens Day....... 7th March 2015.

Beading with Judy Joiner- Sept 2014

 

 

 

 

We had a lovely September meeting with member Judy Joiner showing us beading techniques. We all made a piece of work under her instruction. Most enjoyable. We all went home with some incredible pieces of beading. Mine is a brooch.

Looking forward to an extra workshop on 7th October with Sue Bovington and Chinese Thread Books.

 

 

Swindon Open Studios

 

 

I am opening my studio to visitors both weekends from 11 - 5pm and would love to see you if you have time to come and chat. I have some new work hanging in the studio and shall be working too. Check the Swindon Open studio website for more details .

It is also an opportunity to see other artists and their work.

 

 

Customs and Crafts Exhibition at Lydiard House.

 

We are so grateful to the Mayor for opening our third Exhibition at Lydiard House. The work was well received by visitors and will be on display until June.

 

On Tuesday 8th April Lydiard House are hosting a "Meet the Artist" event and members of GWE will be in the house to chat to visitors about their work.

 

On Thursday evening - 10th April, Maggie Harris will be giving an illustrated talk about "The History of Embroidery" in the House. All are welcome and details of the event are here.

Stitch Day - February

 

 

Another family of mice.... completed for the children's trail for our future exhibition at Lydiard House. I think the GWE mice will be very popular with the children.
