the AGM meeting

The January meeting seems to have crept upon us very quickly and so it was time to have our yearly AGM.  A time to reflect and celebrate a wonderful 2015, and then go on to  introduce the new theme for the year and the exciting planned events for 2016.

So lots of excited exchanges of ideas and discussions about the new theme and about the events for this year ... some members started stitching their ideas..... others were reflecting and using notebooks and sketchbooks.  Lots of cups of tea and cake helped the process. We have started!  Absolutely amazing.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, all provided by members and had a very sociable chat and some members even had time to stitch! The Secret Santa is always a highlight of the activities too.

And of course...... there is all the washing up to do as well! Happy New Year.

Overlockers with Ann Kingdon

We had a great time putting our over lockers through their paces and many thanks to Anns' patience and expert knowledge achieved a great deal in a short space of time. .

Hopefully we all know how to thread our machines now and are able to put them to good use.

Dorset day

Many thanks to everyone in the Swindon group of West Country Embroiderers who helped at the Dorset Day event. I think we all really enjoyed ourselves. Our mini exhibition in the centre of the room was well received by everyone.

It was also wonderful to welcome Maggie Grey ( president of WCE) and her husband Clive.

Before we opened the doors some of our members having a chat, it was so well organised, and the traders were buzzing.

Anita Bruce the speaker was brilliant and we all enjoyed her talk. We were also very fortunate to have booked her for a workshop the next day. We really had a wonderful time.

Here is a selection of the sketchbooks we made at her workshop.

The raffle at Dorset Day  raised a lot of money which was donated to Parkinson's UK ( Swindon group), this is Mags and I presenting the cheque to Dave Logan, Chairman of the group.

Boxes at the March meeting

We had a wonderful time making boxes at our meeting and a huge thank you to Sam and Maureen for helping to put us through our paces and to Judy for loaning many of the teaching aids.

Many thanks to all the members who also bought in examples of boxes they had made. What an inspiring day.

Members worked very hard, especially as lots of measurements were involved for accuracy.

We are all looking forward to seeing the finished boxes at the meeting next month.
